Traditionally, hobbies were reserved for leisure time. Perhaps you had a full time job during the week, and at weekends you could indulge in your favourite past times. Hobbies such as writing, reading, playing music, cooking, playing poker and online casino or DIY could be enjoyed in your free time.

Turn your hobbies into money making realities

Times have changed! Thanks to online communities it is much easier to learn a new skill, share tips on hobbies, share the results of your hobbies and discuss with other like minded individuals. More and more people are finding ways to monetise their skills. They are successfully turning a hobby into a business, and you can too!

Writing for money

There are many online resources that will let you showcase your work, for example medium.com. Plus you can actually name a price for your writing services on community sites such as Fiverr and Upwork. Here you can connect with publishers looking for blog writers.  You can also carve a niche for yourself by promoting yourself as an expert writer in a particular field. For example, you could be a beauty product review expert, or a travel writer.  It could be anything!

Think outside the box too. Online businesses need content to keep their sites fresh and relevant. If you play online casino or poker you could get a job becoming a games reviewer and help share information about key features and the best places to play. There are plenty of websites reviewing online games such as Casinos Jungle, Ask Gamblers and Casino.org.  You could contact companies directly or place an advert on freelance writing sites promoting yourself as a gambling content writer.

The same could be applied to any online business – think about an online insurance website. Odds are they will have a news and reviews section talking about the merits of comprehensive insurance. Real user experiences are always useful to help potential customers understand the benefits or what to look for in the type of cover they choose. Basically, all this high quality content has to come from somewhere, why not from you?

Blogging

Another way is to start your own blog. If you love cooking you could start a recipe blog. Giving tips and photographing or video recording your recipes will help attract users. Once you have enough traffic to your sites you can make money by advertising (having banners or adsense on your website) or by becoming an affiliate.  For example: you partner with a manufacturer of a blender. On your site you promote using this blender for your recipe and you include a link that site visitors can click on to buy their own blender. As an affiliate you will make a percentage of sales or a fixed amount per sale of the blender.

You must be aware that building up a site and a significant amount of traffic takes a lot of time, and a lot of work! There are so many other sites already out there, it’s best to try to find your niche. For example, there will be hundreds of thousands of recipe sites, but a lot less lunch box recipes for kids sites, and even less “lunch box recipes for fussy kids” blogs. So whilst it may be nearly impossible to become the number 1 recipe website, you could well become THE blogger for picky eaters lunch box recipe ideas.

Sell your arts and crafts!

Sites like Etsy are a brilliant way to sell your beautiful little creations. From clothes design, artwork, jewelry, refurbished furniture and sculpture there are so many artisans work on display there is a place for everybody! One major advantage of using a platform like Etsy is you don’t have the overheads you would have in a physical shop.  You will still have to work hard to be noticed as there is a lot of competition. One idea is to send some samples of your work to influencers. These are people who have built up a large group of followers on social media platforms and can showcase your work or recommending your product.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. It will not be easy, but you really can make money doing something that you love and turn that hobby into a business!

If you’re like me you’ll have spent countless hours daydreaming about what you would do if you won the lottery!

Well you can’t win if you don’t play. And did you know just how many European lotteries there are? Just be incredibly lucky and hope the stars line up for you for a life changing win. Here’s a roundup of the best lottos in Spain to start buying tickets for!

El Gordo de Navidad

This world famous Spanish lottery takes place only once a year. The prize pool is over 2 BILLION EUROS. The El Gordo de Navidad started way back in 1812 and has become a Spanish tradition, with people in other countries wanting to get in on the action too.

The draw is held in Madrid on 22nd of December, just in time to make some people’s Christmas the best holiday EVER! The draw is more than just a quick few numbers read out and that’s it. The ceremony takes hours. Children sing out the numbers drawn. It’s more like a raffle than a lottery and there are 13 main prizes to be won and hundreds of smaller ones. Instead of buying one ticket, like you would in a normal lottery, you buy a share of the ticket. And the ticket can be sold as many as 180 times so your whole community can get involved!

One major reason people like to play is the chances of winning is 1 in 100,000 compared to the euromillions where it’s 1 in 139 million. So if you’re going to play any lottery, this one gives you a good chance of winning something! How do I buy a ticket? If you’re in Spain you can buy one from many retail outlets, or online.

El Nino Lottery

Loteria del Nino (or the children’s lottery) follows not long after El Gordo on 6th Jan. The top prize is 2million euros and like El Gordo, tickets are split into decimos, so the top payout per decimo is 200,000euros.

La Primitiva

La Primitiva is the Spanish National lottery. 55% of the prize pool is allocated as prizes and the rest goes to charity and state programmes helping those in need.

Did you know that there are ways to make an exorbitant amount of money online, and all you must do are play some games and buy some tickets? (To be precise, you need winning lottery tickets to pick up lottery winnings).

That sounded super spammy, I know. But it’s true! (kind of). If you know me personally, you’ll know I love to play the lottery. I dream of what I will spend my lottery winnings on. I bet you do it too!

Pick up lottery winnings: Play online!

Many people have learned the benefit of playing live lottery games online, which cuts down on the waiting period of playing traditional lottery. This gives you more time and opportunity to continue to play online and win some huge jackpots.

Online casino jackpots

If you can’t wait for the weekly lottery result, there are plenty of massive jackpots to be won in online casinos. I’ve tried several (though I haven’t won the jackpot yet).
Some benefits of opting to play online casino games are the enjoyable gaming experiences it offers the player and fast payouts, sometimes in as little as a few hours.

All you need to do is pick a serious casino and play online. It’s as simple as that. In fact, you may be surprised to learn, you have just as much of a chance of winning when you play online as at a land-based casino. The types of games you can play are the same as at a land-based casino too. One can choose to play poker, blackjack, roulette, even craps, all the classic casino favorites and so many more. Just make sure you read the terms and conditions on whatever site you choose for your gaming exploits to protect yourself.

How to spend your lottery winnings

Beyond protecting oneself online by reading terms and conditions and picking a serious online casino to play at, one has something equally as important to mull over… lottery winnings! What should be done with all that money you are going to win? It is critical to plan for this because you don’t want to blow through your jackpot, which are mistakes some former lottery winners have made.

However, some lottery winners have chosen to spend their money in unique ways. For example, a winner and his wife opted to take a portion of their winnings and build a water park. Another winner chose to use funds to create a women’s wrestling television show. Crazy right? Well if you have the money, the world is your oyster.

Responsible spending

Conversely, you can spend your money in seemingly more responsible ways. One option would be to use it to travel the world, the benefit being acquiring significant life experience and submerging yourself in the culture of other countries. Or set the money aside in a family trust and set loved ones up for financial success.

Truly, the possibilities are endless when it comes to how one could spend winnings from playing casino or lottery games online. All you must do is start playing to win big, but remember, one essential step to playing responsibly is to plan what you are going to do once you hit that jackpot. I hate to be dull, but I’ll be paying off that student loan debt with my big payout. Then jet off to a tropical beach! What are you going to do with your winnings?

Is there anything quite as relaxing as reading? Finding a comfortable chair, a spot in the sun or snuggled up under a blanket with a hot cup of tea and instantly being transported to another world.  Reading for pleasure rather than reading to study or for work can help to shut out the worries and concerns of everyday life and expand your horizons without leaving your seat. This is one of the best hobbies too since it’s free! Just visit your local library or download a classic on your Kindle if you have one.

Making time for yourself to relax is especially important in this day and age of so much stress and bluelight exposure from too many hours of screen time. Finding the time to read as a child was much easier, especially if you were born before mobile phones came into such popular use as online entertainment, but as an adult finding time to indulge in this hobby can harder. Maybe you haven’t found the time to read recently what with having so many daily obligations with kids, work, studies and life, so why not  make a promise to yourself? This weekend give yourself an hour or two dedicated to reading.  Get comfortable, get offline and open a good book.

If you don’t have any books currently on the go, here’s a few favourites you might want to pick up. They are also amongst the highest selling books of all time; testament to just how good they are and that they are accessible to so many people across the globe!

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens –  “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” Perhaps you’ve heard that quote and never read the book but it’s an absolute classic tale of revolution and duality, resurrection and transformation set in London and Paris.

The Lord of the Rings  by J.R.R. Tolkien – by now you have probably seen the Peter Jackson film, spanning an epic 3 movies. Why not revisit the book and immerse yourself in the full Tolkien middle earth experience? Something about the richness of the language gives the books huge gravitas and you’ll likely find yourself eagerly turning the pages to see what happens next on Frodo’s perilous quest, even though you know the story already.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe  by C.S. Lewis. It’s almost impossible to think of Turkish delight and not recall the scene of the White Witch in this fantastical classic children’s book. Join Lucy, Edmund, Peter and Susan on a magical adventure through the wardrobe and forget all about Brexit.

The Catcher in the Rye  by J.D. Salinger. Banned from some American schools due to bad language and sexual content, The Catcher in the Rye became a classic tale of teen angst told by central character Holden Caulfield, who did not spend his time playing Candy Crush or playing online games.
